On August 18, the youth of Holiness Tabernacle proved that you don’t have to be an adult to live for God.
Prepped out in glasses, cardigans and bow ties, the youth brought levity to the evening as they prayed, read scripture and conducted praise and worship, ushering in the presence of God and inviting the congregation to get involved.
The Sunshine Band affirmed their adoration for the Lord when they sang, “I’m in Love with Jesus Christ.” The sermonic selection, “Break Every Chain,” sung by the combined youth choir, prepared hearts to receive a Word from God which was delivered by the youngest up to the oldest.

Sister Delia Pruitte presented Brother Eryn McCown and Sister Nevaeh Wheeler for their debut sermons. The title of Brother Eryn’s sermon was “A Happy Comeback” and focused on the rebuilding of the Temple. Using Legos as a visual aid, Brother Eryn showed how when the Hebrews returned to Jerusalem after captivity, they were sad, but with their commitment and faith in God, they were able to rebuild.
Sister Neveah talked about how the world is a wicked place where a lot of bad things occur. She encouraged the saints by informing them that one day, Jesus was coming back and He was going to make everything all new!
Following the novice speakers, the purity class’ Brother Jay Norman and Sister Dymond Starr brought topics for the congregation to chew on. Brother Jay spoke about being a legacy that passes down the tenets of true holiness, and Sister Dymond provided congregants with some fashion advice, encouraging them to keep it cute but keep it holy.
Words of wisdom where then delivered by two of the adult youth leaders, Brother Alexander Powell who shared his testimony of having a praying mother and grandmother in his corner and Sister Lillian DeLardge who reminded the young and old, not to become strangers to God. Following their presentation, Pastor Eddie B. Pruitte recalled the messages then prayed for every single youth in attendance.
“I enjoy youth day,” said Brother Ariante De La Cruz. “It was great to see us having fun and participating in the church.”
The Bible says to train up a child in the way they should and when they are old, they will not depart from it. Holiness Tabernacle takes this commandment seriously and ensures that even the youngest have a burning desire to uphold the true legacy of holiness.
