By Minister John Mabry
The God of Elijah is the answer. Something happened when Elijah prayed that would not have happened had he not prayed. There was no doubt about the reality of God’s power in the minds of those who heard Elijah pray upon Carmel when they saw the living fire fall from heaven to blaze upon the altar. Listen to his words: “If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14) This is a dateless promise; these are timeless words. They are for God’s people of every nation and for all time. If we will only pray, we need not fear even our mightiest foe. The world is in a state of utter chaos, and the United States is battled by one crisis after another: millions of Americans seeking work, skyrocketing medical costs, run-away inflation, crime in the streets, deception and greed on Wall Street, and the demise of the family unit. Our political leaders have tried numerous legislative programs to correct these problems, but to no avail. The key to solving these problems is simple: seek the wisdom of God through prayer. In her book What It Means To Pray Through, Mother Dabney wrote: Prayer is the key to the Lord’s heaven door. It encourages every leader, minister, and missionary when they observe the ingathering of the Lord’s spiritual harvest. I believe in asking for divine guidance in everything pertaining to business and human life. It is high time that we learn the futility of our human endeavor, the folly of fighting in our own strength, or in the armor of our own invention. We need the Spirit who came at Pentecost. We perish for the breath of God. Shall we not cry with Elisha, “Where is the Lord God of Elijah?” Praise Ye The Lord!!! – July 2K10 WOTM

“Praise ye the Lord. Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.” Psalm 150:1a, 6
On this day, I had a lot on my plate. Between my family, government job, web business and church responsibilities, I had a full list of action items to complete. I wasn’t fretting or frustrated, the day was going good, and I knew that I had to get going. So I prayed, turned on my iPod and began to work. I have 500+ songs on my iPod and I generally listen to it on random, but for some reason, it began to play by albums. The first song I remembered was “Sweet Jesus” by J Moss. The words I love to praise your name, I love to lift you up hit me like a ton of bricks: Sweet Jesus, when I was lonely In the midst of my cube that I share with six other people . . . when I had a lot of work to do . . . I couldn’t help but lift up my hands and begin to bless the name of the Lord. I got up, ran upstairs and continued to bless His name. He reminded me that He IS sweet and that He has always been there for me and that He was worthy to be praised! After several other songs passed, I remember hearing “Now Behold the Lamb” by Kirk Franklin. The words the precious Lamb of God, born into sin that I may live again, the precious Lamb of God again stopped me in my tracks: Holy is the Lamb, the precious Lamb of God For a second time, in the midst of my cube, I had to take another praise break. Tears welled up in my eyes and I had to no option but to bless His holy name. Why you love me so, Lord I’ll never know kept ringing in my ear. Even in the midst of my frailness, He loves me. Not loved in the past tense, but love in the present tense. He again reminded me that He was worthy to be praised! I guess I had a spirit of praise on that Thursday. “Sweeter” by Lakewood Choir told me that every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before. “You Are Holy” by Lisa McClendon reminded me that He IS holy. “Be Exalted” by Marvin Sapp got me singing Lord I love you, Lord I praise you, Lord I life your name on high. I can go on and on as God blessed me to praise Him throughout the day. In the midst of your long day: while you’re dealing with the kids; while you’re sitting in traffic; while you’re standing in a long line; while you’re dealing with trouble on every hand; or while you’re enjoying a good day, take a praise break and Praise Ye The Lord! He is Holy. He is Righteous. He is Worthy. He deserves ALL the praise. In season, out of season. Bless the name of the Lord, and watch him change your environment, no matter where you are. I encourage you to Praise Ye The Lord! Humbly Submitted, The Tongue! – June 2K10 WOTM

James 3:5, 6, 8, 10 So my brothers and sisters, choose your words wisely before you open your mouth. Bro. Rowe Men’s Car Wash and Fish/Rib DinnersIt’s A New Season – Jan2K10 WOTM

The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 3:1 that “to every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Just like our earthly seasons, the seasons in our lives can differ drastically. They also have a purpose! One definition says a “season” can be characterized as the following:
What seasons did you run into in 2009? Did you experience a season of drought? How about a season of prosperity? Did you suffer from a season of sickness? Or a season of loss? What about a season of pain? Or a season of growth? Every aspect of our lives is likened unto a season and there’s a purpose for those seasons. Each season prepares you for the next season, which means that you can’t blindly slide through your season. Did you learn something during your seasons? Israel Haughton’s sings “It’s a new season, it’s a new day. A fresh anointing steadily flowing my way.” Another song writer sang “everyday with Jesus, is sweeter than the day before.” Whether your season seemed good or bad, knowing that Jesus will be with us always (Matthew 28:20) and that we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37) with God on our side, we can make it through any season that comes our way. On January 1, 2010 at 12:00 midnight, you stepped into a new season. Stand in victory in your new season knowing that we are victorious in Jesus! Humbly Submitted, Change – September 09 WOTM

Change The month of September brings about a new change on the horizon. For many parts of the world, the sweltering summer heat will give way to a refreshing, cool, and comfortable season of early autumn. The green leaves on the trees will soon change to God’s handy work: a beautiful array of assorted colors. Many students are filled with the excitement of going back to school and will meet new friends, teachers, and confront the challenges of a higher academic curriculum. Even in American sports, the baseball, “boys of summer” will soon give way to the football athletes on the, “grid iron.” However, with all the changes that the autumn season brings, God will never change. In Malachi 3-6a, God tells the people of Israel, “For I am the Lord, I change not.” Hebrews 13:8 informs us, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” While the children of Israel wandered in the desert for 40 years because of their disobedience to God, His unconditional love for them never changed. No matter what we’ve done in the past, good or bad, it’s comforting to know that God’s love for us will never change. Instead, God want us to continually change and do his will! As the clay on the potter’s wheel, Jeremiah 18: 1-6, God wants to shape us and mold us to be like Him. All souls belong to God and it’s His desire that every soul will be delivered from sin and live an everlasting life, II Peter 3:9. Additionally, God does not change and pardon godless laws in this world’s system. Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 12:2. “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”. If we all allow God to continually change us into doing his will, we can live fruitful and joyful lives in this world’s age…no matter how much the world changes. Why We Need To Pray John Mabry The call of the hour is for men and women who are mighty in prayer, masters of supplication, and specialists in the holy art of intercession. The God of Elijah is the answer. Something happened when Elijah prayed that would not have happened had he not prayed. There was no doubt absolute reality of God’s power in the minds of those who heard Elijah pray upon Mt. Carmel when they saw the living fire fall from heaven to blaze upon the altar. Our political leaders have tried numerous legislative programs to correct these problems but to no avail. At no time have our leaders suggested getting back to basics: family prayer and the necessity of attending church regularly. It is high time that we learn the futility of our human endeavor, the folly of fighting in our own strength, or in the armor of our own invention. We need the spirit who came at Pentecost. We perish for the breath of God. Shall we not cry with Elisha, “Where is the Lord God of Elijah”? ### |

In his letter to Timothy, the Apostle Paul wrote, “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men: for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour” (I Timothy 2:1-3). The call of the hour is for men and women who are mighty in prayer, masters of supplication, and specialists in the holy art of intercession.
I’m the type of person that likes to give you a fully researched Word for the Word of the Month. I must include a number of Scriptures, follow my main points and lay it all out. That’s how I write . . . and that’s how I preach. But as I sat at my work desk on Thursday, July 1, 2010, a spirit of praise overwhelmed me and the Lord gave me a simple Word to encourage you today: Praise Ye The Lord!
Even so the tongue is a little member and boast great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Out of the same mouth proceed blessings and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.
Because I was born and raised on the West Coast, being on the East Coast has been a very new experience for me and my family. In Sunny Southern California, we ran into one season – maybe two – at the most during a given year. To us, it was always spring or summer. The weather was generally a warm 60-70 degrees throughout the year, with some rain here and there. But since our move to the East Coast in 2008, we experienced spring, summer, fall and winter. We’ve fallen in love with the beauty of spring, dreaded the humidity of summer, awed by the colors of fall and froze with the chill of winter. Each season has its God-given purpose; each season is unique and special in its own way; and each season is appreciated differently depending on who you speak to. However, the success or beauty of a particular season depends upon you . . . if we take the best out of each season.
